Richard Everett Gadsden, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, after a life filled with love, dedication, and joy. He was born on February 16, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Gerould and Mary Mildred Hood Gadsden
Richard grew up with a strong sense of family, sharing his childhood with his sister, Lynne Henry (Bruce). In 1969, he married the love of his life, Sonia Gutiérrez, beginning a partnership that spanned more than five decades. Together, they built a family rooted in warmth and devotion.
Richard was the proud father of Paula Gadsden Lopez and Tom Gadsden, and he welcomed his son-in-law Carlos Lopez into the family with open arms. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren—Carlos Lopez, Rachel Lopez, Sara Gadsden, and Thomas Gadsden Jr.—who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Professionally, Richard dedicated 40 years of his career to Walt Disney World, working at the Polynesian Resort. His commitment and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and guests alike, embodying the spirit of hospitality and magic that Disney represents. After retiring, Richard cherished his time with family, enjoying the simple pleasures of life and celebrating the milestones of those he loved.
Richard’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and service. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering devotion to family, and his remarkable career that touched countless lives. He leaves behind a family who will forever treasure his memory and honor his life by carrying forward the values he instilled in them.
