Richard E. Gibson, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Richard E. Gibson, Sr., of Mount Dora, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the age of 80 years. He was born in Miami, FL and served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Richard retired from Florida Power and Light in 1989, where he worked as a lineman for many years and later was in purchasing and logistics for FPL. He enjoyed square dancing and loved to fish. He is remembered by his wife of 58 years, Iola; daughters, Karen Lennox of Mount Dora, Carole (Frank) Cosgrove of North Carolina and Dianie (David) Murphy of Miami, FL; son, Richard, Jr. (Kelly) Gibson of Mount Dora, FL; sister, Margie Gibson of New Mexico; as well as 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Friends gathered for a viewing on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 10 – 11 AM with services starting at 11 AM, all in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mount Dora. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora Building Fund, 1000 East 1st Avenue, Mount Dora, FL 32757. Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares, FL, 352-343-4444. Condolences may be left for the family by signing the guestbook below.
