Richard Devereaux, a proud veteran of the US Navy and US Air Force, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026 in Tavares, FL.
The son of Michael Devereaux and Theresa Gasking. He was born on December 24, 1939 in Newburgh, NY where he grew up.
At the age of 18, Richard Devereaux enlisted in the US Navy. He later transferred to the US Air Force and retried as a Master Sergeant (E8).
Richard Devereaux was preceded in death by Diane Devereaux (wife), Theresa Gasking (mother), Elmer Gasking (stepfather) and William Devereaux (brother).
He is survived by Thomas (Tracey) Schmidt (stepson) of Eagle River, WI; Karen (Christopher) Guptill (stepdaughter) of Leesburg, FL; Susan (Troy) Stroud (stepdaughter) of Leesburg, FL; Sally (Ben) Lilly (stepdaughter) of Groveland, FL; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; Barbara Devereaux (sister-in-law) of Carmel, NY; Bill Devereaux (Nephew) of Bainbridge Island, WA; John Devereaux (nephew) of Litchfield, NH and Kathy Devereaux (niece) of Carmel NY.
