Richard Lynn Amey's Obituary
Richard Lynn Amey, 68 of Tavares FL, passed away on November 9, 2021. He was born in Lima, OH, on June 25, 1953, to his parents: Arthur and Carrie (Harmon) Amey. He was a Fixed Asset Specialist for Lake County Government and loved to fish.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years: Linda Amey. Sons: Jeff (Lisa Earl) Amey and Scott (Anna) Amey. Daughters: Sherry (William) Hays and Christy (James) Venezio. Daughter-in-law: Heather (Kapit) Amey. Sister: Nancy (Gary) Reynolds; 9 grandchildren: Alexander and Aiden Amey, Traci Hays-Bryant (Kierian), Warren (Kirsty) Hays, Christian Stanley, Austen Stanley, William Amey, Autumn and Vincent Venezio; 2 great grandchildren: Robert Wilkewitz and Anastasia Hays and many nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by several brothers and one sister, Judy (Amey) Mason.
Richard loved family activities, particularly with the children. His children’s friends were treated like family. He became involved in Scouting: a friend to his two daughters’ Girl Scouts troops, and a mentor to Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts serving as Webelos leader and later becoming Scoutmaster. He also worked on the Committees for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He loved to take the Boy Scouts camping and fishing. He also enjoyed coaching in the Tavares Youth Football League with his two sons.
A viewing will be held Monday, November 15, 2021, from 1:00-2:00PM with service to follow at 2:00PM at Steverson Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home. Interment will be at the City of Tavares cemetery.
