Raymond Edward Shumake Jr.'s Obituary
Raymond E. Shumake Jr. was born September 20, 1967 in Dallas, Texas to Airman 1st Class Raymond E. Shumake Sr. (a Vietnam vet who preceded him in death) and Maxine Martin. He attended Dallas County Public Schools and Wilmer-Hutchin School District where he was mainstreamed and in class with special needs students. He was diagnosed with Austism at 4 years old. He was non-verbal with very limited speech.
He moved with his mother and little sister to Jacksonville Beach, Florid in 1988. He attended the ARC of the St. Johns-Beaches Extension for many years. There, he excelled in paintings, artwork, and puzzles. He then moved to Tavares, Florida with his mother in 2018.
He is preceded in death by his father and aunts Shirley Sessions and Doris Reed.
He is survived by his mother Maxine Martin Terrell, sisters Patrice Hodge (Monte) of Dallas, Texas, DeShayla Strachan; two nieces, Desiree Hartford and Destiny Simon of Dallas, TX; one nephew Kenton Morel; One great niece, Madison Davis; Aunts, Mary Jo Dancer, Sylvia Martin, Cheryl Campbell (Lloyd); One uncle, William Martin, all of Dallas, TX; Special needs caregivers, Linda Erving and Frances Jefferson of Leesburg, Florida and Asonia Alexander of Jacksonville, Florida; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
