Philip E. Bacon Obituary Philip Edwin Bacon, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21 at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages following a series of unfortunate events. He was a resident of Eustis, FL. He is survived by his Read Obituary
It's with great sadness that I learned of the passing of my very dear and long time friend, Phil Bacon.
My wife, Susan and I met Phil and Gretchen Bacon in the early 1990's in South Florida through the Gold Coast British Sports Car Club.
Phil had rekindled an old love and had bought a vintage Triumph TR6 that he loved to drive and tinker on. He and Gretchen became good friends and they were very active in the car club and helped organize many events including the yearly Classic All British Car Show in Lake Worth, and Boca Raton, FL and several very large Vintage Triumph Register SE Regional events.
Even after leaving South Florida, I stayed very close to Phil as he only lived a few miles from me when we re-located to Central Florida and we would regularly go to lunch or dinner, or I'd just go over to his house and visit him in these later years when he wasn't doing very well.
But in the 1990's and 2000's we traveled on many road trips together with Phil and Gretchen in his 1971 Sapphire blue Triumph TR6 and Susan and me in one of our British cars headed to a car show at the Roadster Factory in Pennsylvania or to a cabin in the mountains of Tennessee or the Carolinas.
I never needed a map on these trips as Phil always had the routes well planned out and on great back country roads. I always knew that if I just followed Phil's tail lights, I'd get safely where we were going.
Godspeed Phil. I hope there are some bright tail lights leading you on your way my friend.
I will miss you.

Phil and I were two of 22 first cousins, grandchildren of Howard and Della Bacon. Growing up fairly close to each other in central New York, and being of the same age, we probably saw more of each other than our other cousins. I always admired Phil for his artistic and mechanical abilities. He will be sorely missed. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
