Peni Susan Berger, age 66, of Mt. Dora passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015. She was born May 20, 1948 in Bronx, NY. She was a retired teacher and volunteered with the library and Birds of Prey in Maitland. She was a member of the Read Obituary
I remember us as young teachers. I always thought that if there were such a thing, you could be a Jewish nun. You laughed so hard, I thought your sides were going to split.The canasta games we used to play - you and me against John and Steve. Lots of good memories. Peni, you were truly the most compasionate person I ever met.

I met Peni in 1970, at ces 70, but we really met the week we were born. our mothers gave birth to us, 3 days apart, at dr. leff's maternity hospital, in the bronx. i was so shocked and saddened to learn of her untimely death. i know she loved her family and loved living in florida. peni could make you angry and make you laugh. rest in peace.
We met Peni decades ago at Temple Emanu-El and came to know the family through dinners, holidays and special events. I also sat through many a meeting of the Jewish Council of Yonkers with Peni, who often gave quiet hilarious commentary on the goings on. We are sorry to learn of Peni's passing. Fred and I send our sincerest condolences to Steve and Nicole.

Hi Steve and Nicole,
Even though the last time I visiteded with you was 3 years ago, Peni and your family will always remain in my heart. Peni was one of my favorite cousins, even if were first cousins once removed. When we were growing up in the Bronx I can only remember the good times we shared. No need to dwell on some of the hard times.
May her soul rest in peace forever.
My friend was always full of love and laughter... I will never forget her first name and the middle name. She made me laugh when I was sad. She picked me up when I thought I could never get back up again!! I will truly miss you! Linda is in such great company and you both have Harriet to be your mentor! I will always love you!! R.I.P!

What an incredible loss. Even though we were separated by time and distance, when we got together it was as though no time had passed. Peni always saw the funny side of things. I can smile through tears thinking of her.
