Here we are again, Xmas seems to come around quicker and quicker these days, however we always think of loved ones far away and Xmas always evokes many memories of the living and the ones who have left us, l will give a little speech now as regards a very first memory of PAUL, very funny, and l am sure this applies to many parents that believe in the magic of Santa on behalf of their children. Paul had his request in to Santa early(definitely due to the budget of MR. and MRS. Claus I would think) all done and sorted until dare l say!!, Christmas Eve day,he decided he wanted a golden trumpet, l believe some famous trumpeter was in vogue maybe Eddie Calvert or someone, Santa and his wife scoured the town and low and behold found one, plastic sprayed in gold, Paul was delighted but when it broke the day after, he said "it was Santa's fault because l changed his mind my and asked for a Clarinet" Funny because he was was was not quite 4years old.
Moving to the 70's, the first Xmas in the USA was an eye opener, all wrapping Xmas eve, Richard had asked for a bike, we were astounded that it came in a do it your self package, but of course we all have the sort of thing now, everything very elaborate as opposed to England at the time, but l think we all laughed and cringed because the first part he opened was the head lamp, so he twigged on pretty quickly as to what Santa had brought. Grandmas first Xmas was also a shock to the system, she thought her winter wardrobe adequate, but was so out of touch Paul and Anne bought her a weather coat and boots, such generosity, Grandma always reciprocated, as we all know, Paul inherited the generosity genes, he always said, and we know it flows with our family.
So many memories, we could write a Tome, however we will remember happy Xmases past with all our lost ones and we have to remember, it is not just us.
Shared memories l know affects Anne, Paul's daughter-in-law, who has been such mental and emotional support to Paul' mother and sister.
Thank you you all, Paul has a wonderful family. Let us be as happy as he would want, and raise a glass. Loving Mother and Sister, Auntie, grandma, great grandma,Uncle, cousins, all of us SHARE MEMORIES with a strong, talented and maybe too strong opinionated but kind and generous PAUL YOUNGxxxxxxx
