Paul was one of my teachers at Weimar and I remember him saying he wanted to go into Pastoring. I graduated and Pam and I went out of California to start Pastoring. When we ended up coming back to California we found that Paul was now one of our fellow Pastors. That was so great! Eventually Paul and I had the opportunity to go with John Bradshaw, It Is Written, to Costa Rica to do Evangelistic meetings. We were two of about 15 people doing separate EV meetings. We had so much fun and so very rewarding. Paul and I would study our presentations together and figure out the interpretations from spanish and into spanish to make our presentations work with our personal styles. Wow, what an experience that was and to do it with someone I consider not just one of my teachers and mentor but my friend. I do miss our time together and them seem to have been so short a time. Looking for Jesus to come where we will have eternity spend our time with Jesus and each other.
I will try to figure out how to load a photo of both of us at our hotel in Costa Rica. I have it in power point that I created for my church when I got back but can't find the original. I'm not sure how to get that slide converted to a photo again. I'll try my best to make it happen.

So many warm memories of our many years of friendship with Paul, Betty, Elisa and Ryan from PUC starting back in the 70's, to Weimar in the 80's, and stopping off I-5 to see them in Yreka on our way to Oregon to visit our families, and visiting during their Ukiah pastoring days. So glad they could be with family in Florida during their retirement years. Facebook pics show all the joy Elisa and Ryan's grandchildren brought to Paul and Betty. Paul was truly a sincere Christian man with a mission for Christian education and helping his church flock with his loving and supportive wife, Betty, at his side. My late husband, Lynn, loved to go birding with Paul. Seems they never saw a bird they didn't know or else stay up all night trying to figure it out! Just a little while longer and the trumpet will sound on that great resurrection morning when we will see Paul and Lynn again and spend eternity with them learning about more birds and God's wonderful creation. Pastor Hawks was a wonderful pastor to work with in our conference. For many years he served as the parliamentarian for the Northern California Conference Constituency Sessions. Ever the kindhearted professional, it was always a joy to be around him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Hawks Family on this loss. May you feel the presence of God draw near to you during this time of pain.
