Patricia W. Darnall's Obituary
Patricia “Pat” Ward Darnall, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 under Hospice care at Waterman Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born December 9, 1947 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Hugh Ward and Suzanne Brinton Ward (Miller). She grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Asbury Park High School.
Pat is survived by her husband Alexander “Alex” Darnall and June 25 marked their 56th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by two children - daughter Dawn Darnall Madren (husband Jay) and son David Darnall (wife Valentina). She was the proud grandmother to three grandchildren - Matthew Madren (wife Alexandra), Andrew Darnall, and Julia Darnall. She is also survived by her sister Joanne Ward Phillips.
Pat and Alex were married in Basel, Switzerland in June 1968. During their first twenty years of marriage, they moved frequently during Alex’s career in the Army. They spent several tours in Germany traveling and enjoying authentic German cuisine. They settled in Greensboro, NC and then moved south fifteen years ago to be near family in Eustis, Florida.
Pat was an avid quilter and enjoyed making personalized gifts for family and friends. She was in her element listening to her favorite musician Barry Manilow, making crafts, playing cards (especially bridge), and spending time with family.
The family appreciates the years of care provided by the staff at the Lung Transplant Center at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL.
There are no planned events. A private celebration of life will be held at a later time.
