Mike, you were the only man who called me Brookster, since I played little league softball. And the only one who called Bentley, “Benny” as in Benny and the Jets. Mike and me shared three things in common our love for chocolate, rock music and people.
Mike was always thinking of others and had this one of a kind spirit of service, that not many people have. He would always stop whatever he was doing or working on, if myself or someone else he knew needed a hand… So kind, helpful and so thoughtful.
His knowledge of "things" was vast and I always admired that. He was a real man. And a good one. My heart is completely broken for Eve. They were one of the sweetest, most thoughtful, caring, loving and fun couples, I’ve ever known. They were so lucky to have each other and were the most perfect soul mates.
I remember when I burned a couple CDs for Mike with some old 60s, 70s and 80s rock music. He was so grateful, because it sounded so good in his SUV stereo!!! Funny, how we never realize how doing such a small thing for someone can have such a big impact. He was so grateful! Him and Eve listened to it on the way to Maine and around town. And every few months Mike would drive by, roll his window, Eve in the passenger seat with her coffee, and he'd thank me again.
Gosh, all the BBQs, days by the pool, boat rides, parties, the times him and Eve came to my gigs, the meals we shared, the front yard chats, the garage chats and all the laughs we all had.... As I’m writing this I remembered this time, he fixed my cowgirl boots before a show I had back home…. I think he put caulk in the heel so I wouldn’t slip on stage. And it worked! And when I got home we laughed and laughed when I told him how it worked almost too well!!! I was stuck in one place almost the whole time! LOL! Or the time he decorated the house when I graduated! He was so dang proud of those streamers he hung!
I remember going to Mike and Eve's in the evening time to hang with them. He was always so happy telling me about his shows or stuff he saw on YouTube, while we ate pretzels or better- Eve’s famous chocolate cupcakes. Since I lived so far away from my family, I kinda made Mike and Eve my family and loved them like family and always will. Mike, I hope you know you will be greatly missed. Thanks for being you! XOXO
Love Always,
Brooke
