Mary G. Orie's Obituary
Mary G. Orie of Grand Island, FL passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the age of 93 years. She was born in East Hampton, Connecticut. Mary and her husband, Robert, moved to Tavares in 1972 and relocated to Grand Island 8 years ago. They snow birded back and forth to North Carolina for 20 years before making Florida their permanent home. Mary was a homemaker and a co-owner of Robert Orie Amoco gas station in Tavares for many years. She also worked at Golden Gem Growers in Umatilla for over 20 years. Mary loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary loved classic country music and country gospel music. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald Daniel Gregory and Raymond Lombard. Mary is remembered by her husband of 50 years, Robert; sons, Tommy (Shelly) Lombard of Torrington, CT, Edward (Paula) Gregory of McCaysville, GA and Pat (Cece) Gregory of Grand Island, FL; daughter, Cheryl (Ted) Sayen of Eustis, FL; sisters, Eleanor Brazee of Tavares, FL and Barbara DiMartino of Winsted, CT; grandchildren, Brian Lombard, Matthew Lombard and Cortney Wright; and great grandchildren, Nadia Wright, Gabriel Curry and BJ Lombard.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 11:30 am in the funeral home chapel. The family has requested that you dress casual and comfortably. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Golden Triangle Post 8087,4065 N Highway 19A, Mount Dora, FL 32757. Please remember to include a note that your donation is in honor of Mary Orie.
Mary’s final resting place will be Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
