Mary Jo Knight's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Jo Knight of Warrior, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, June 30th, 2011 at the age of 71 years. She was born in Randolph County, Alabama. Mary Jo moved to Central Florida in 1958. Shortly after, she relocated to California for a few years, only to return to Astatula and settle there for 30 years. In 1989, she returned to her native Alabama. She was a homemaker but also worked in a sewing factory in Alabama, a nursery in Apopka, FL as well as Jo-Ann Fabrics for a short while. She had a passion for gardening and sewing and worked as a seamstress at home, making wedding gowns, clothing and dolls. Mary Jo was also a scout leader for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy in 1992 and her son, James in 1970. She is remembered by sons, Cal Jackson (Ellen) Knight of Wildwood, FL and James Henry Lee Knight of Warrior, AL; daughters, Annette D. (Michael) Wintter of Birmingham, Al, Barbara D. (Kenneth) Minor of Umatilla, FL and Sandra E. (Chris) Moore of Warrior, AL; brothers, Carles Brown of FL, Johnny Brown of GA, Paul Brown of AL, M.L. Brown, Jr. of LaGrange, GA, David Brown of LaGrange; sister, Sandra Brown of LaGrange; as well as 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.A Memorial Ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel.
