Mary Elizabeth DeDier's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth (Betty) DeDier, a 54 year resident of Tavares, died Friday, she was 89. Mrs. DeDier came to Tavares with her husband, the late F. Wallace DeDier, and four children in 1967. She grew up Betty Umbaugh, the daughter of a Capitol policeman, who walked a beat and retired as Inspector in District One, fifth in line from the Chief. She attended John Burroughs Elementary School, Taft Middle School, and McKinley High School (1949). She was a graduate of the famed Washington School for Secretaries one year program in 1950 and began a career with American Securities and Trust Bank at 15th and Pennsylvania Streets in 1951 where she met her future husband. Mrs. DeDier is survived by her son, John F. DeDier, Mt. Dora, FL, a daughter Mary V. Greene, West Palm Beach, FL, and a daughter and son in law, Mr. & Mrs. John Carden (John and Michele), Eustis, FL as well as four granddaughters and one grandson. She will be greatly missed by all.
