Mary Ann Hartlerode's Obituary
Mary Ann Hartlerode, age 77 of Howey-in-the-Hills, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Hammond, IN on November 8, 1931 where she lived all of her life. She graduated from Bishop Nole High School. She started working at Inland Sea's Steel Co. as a bookkeeper and retired from there after 31 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was able to travel abroad. She always said she had a special place in her heart for the 40 shades of green in Ireland. She loved bowling, golfing, fishing, playing cards and spending time with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Veronica (Tomczak) Hartlerode and many special friends. She is survived by her cousin, Marilynn (John) Heinerich of Benton Harbor, MI. Although she never had children she considered Robin (Barry) Stewart of Ocoee and Lonnie (Karen) Stover of Howey-in-the-Hills as her "Adopted Children" accepting theirs as her own being a grandma to seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren and she was proceeded in death by grandson Trent Stover. While living with and being a part of the Stover family, she was "Grandma" to hundreds of foster children. She will be missed by many dear friends but will remain in our hearts for ever. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to, Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778 or Humane Society, 16435 McKinley Road, Umatilla, FL 32784. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home. Friends may call on family for visitation prior to the service from 10 - 11 a.m. with Travis Lane officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Hammond, IN.
