Marquis Hickson's Obituary
Marquis Hickson of Orlando went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the age of 26 years. He was born in Elmira, New York and moved to Orlando in 1997. Marquis, known to many of his friends as “Posh”, was a highly respected man of God. He was very involved with his church, Journey Christian Church in Apopka. He loved children and assisted in the children’s ministry and helped to host events at the church. He was a loving and caring man that touched many lives as he helped spread the Word. He had a wonderful relationship with is 2 young nephews, Elijah and Cameron, whom he adored. Marquis loved music. He had an incredible voice and a talent for writing music. He and his friend made YouTube videos and worked on making CD’s together. Marquis worked at Finnegan’s Bar and Grill at Universal Studios for 8 years. He enjoyed working there because of the closeness, love and friendship he shared with his “Finnegan’s Family”.
Marquis is remembered and will be dearly missed by his mother, Tammy Oldfield of Tampa; his sister, Tamisha (Torrey) Scott of Orlando, nephews, Elijah Jones and Cameron Scott; maternal grandparents, Edna and Todd Long and maternal great grandmother, Florence Zinck, all of Knoxville, Pennsylvania; paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Liola Hickson of Rochester, New York; Godparents, Tammy Jamison of Tampa and Shunkin Jamison of Chicago; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his best friends, Jorge, Danny and Eric; his church family and many more friends.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a funeral service at Journey Christian Church in Apopka at 10:00AM with the burial immediately following at the Washington Park Cemetery in Orlando.
