Marie Straughan Bonnette's Obituary
Marie Straughan Bonnette of Orlando, Florida passed away in her sleep on November 15, 2021 at the age of 97. Marie was born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi on March 19, 1924. She was married to Gordon J. Bonnette who passed 12 years ago after being married for 64 years. Marie is survived by her two sons, 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Marie had a large family who loved her very much. Her family has expressed "It will be hard to imagine the world without her!" She was a caring, loving person who always put others welfare and happiness above her own. Marie grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and lived there with her family until moving to Central Florida in 2004. Toward the last years of her life she resided at an assisted living home and everyone there new her well, because she always showed a true loving concern for their well-being. No one there called her by her name Marie; to them her name was Sugar, because from the moment she met you your name to her was Sugar. She was the middle child of three girls. Both her sisters, Emily and Irma have passed, but before their passing she was the one who cared for them. She was the one they could depend on. Her whole family feels that way. Marie was the family caregiver – for her parents, her mother and father in-laws, for her sisters, and for 3 generations of children – her sons, her grand-children and her great-grandchildren. Her care was given out of love and need, and not obligation. Marie was loved by all who knew her, and she will dearly be missed. We all take comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
