Maria Idalia LaPorte's Obituary
Maria Idalia LaPorte, age 81, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 in Tavares, FL surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Aguas Beunas, Puerto Rico and moved to the Tavares area in 2007 from Queens, NY. She was a retired Medical Records Supervisor with over 20 years of service with the Nena Health Center, New York, NY. She was a long time member of Incarnation Catholic Church, in Queens. Maria was devoted to her husband and family and will be remembered by those close to her for her outgoing personality and her uncanny ability to make instant friends from complete strangers. Maria’s gift of gab led her to be called “The Mayor” in her neighborhood in Queens as well as her retirement neighborhood in Tavares, FL. She was happiest when she was cooking, dancing, entertaining friends and spoiling her husband of 55 years Evangelio. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Rosemary (Michael Morrissey) LaPorte of Levittown, NY; sisters, Juanita Medina of Puerto Rico and Epifania Medina of Kissimmee, FL; 1 grandchild, Jillian; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Nicholas. A Mass of Christian Burial is being arranged at Incarnation Catholic Church in Queens, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 E.
