Lynda Lou Fairburn's Obituary
Lynda Lou Fairburn (nee Thomas), age 86, of Tavares passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. She was born May 4, 1928 in Georgetown, IL. She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Wakefield (nee Fairburn) and her husband John of Chicago, IL; and step-granddaughter, Christine Turnipseed (nee Wakefield) and her husband Jason of Hammond, IN. She is also survived by her son, Douglas Stewart Fairburn; grandson Douglas Stewart Fairburn, II both of Umatilla, FL and his mother, Mary Fairburn of Leesburg, FL; niece, Lynda Jane Harrison of Springfield, MO and her children; nieces, Susan Cotta, Cindy Wright, Doreen McCabe, Janice Nickerson, Karen Hamilton, Heather Nelson, and Susan Vonderau; nephews, Nathan Lee and Michael Lee. She was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church, Eustis. She was retired from Florida Hospital Waterman after 20 years of service as an Executive Housekeeper. She loved all her employees and always tried to help them attain new and higher goals for themselves. She was a member of the National Executive Housekeepers Association and held several national offices. She was an active member of the Gold Star Wives Flamingo Chapter of Florida and held a number of offices over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Staff Sergeant Douglas Colson Fairburn; her grandson, Scott Christopher Rusler (Fairburn); and a sister, Glenna Mae Coats. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 10:00AM until 12:00PM at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, Tavares. A Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00PM. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
