Lowell F. Hanawalt's Obituary
Mr. Lowell F. Hanawalt of Fruitland Park, Florida passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the age of 78 years. He was born in Dumont, Iowa to Nilus E. and Alta M. Hanawalt, who have preceded him in death. Lowell served his country in the US Navy. He moved to central Florida in 1973 from Des Moines, Iowa. Lowell worked much of his life in car sales and later as a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Moose Lodge # 5766 in Orlando. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Leona; sons; Bruce (Kim) Hanawalt of Apopka, Florida and Brian (Lisa) Hanawalt of Leesburg, Florida; brother, Pete Hanawalt of Clearwater, Florida; sisters, Deloris Ott of West Des Moines, Iowa and Lawray Chapman of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Andrew Stamper of Apopka, Amanda Senior of Merritt Island, Florida, Brittany Leonard of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, Jimmy Blackmer of Norfolk, Virginia, Cariann Blackmer of Melbourne, Florida, Nilus Hanawalt of Leesburg and Reagan Hanawalt of Leesburg; and great grandchildren, Brendan, Stevie, Austin, Carley, Annabelle, Carter and McKayla. In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Blackmer, formerly of Melbourne, Florida and his brother, Harold Hanawalt, formerly of New Hampton, Iowa.The family invited friends to gather for a viewing on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 10:00 am until 12 noon with a funeral ceremony starting at 12 noon, all in the funeral home chapel. Burial took place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares, FL.
