Lila Jean Myers' Obituary
Lila Jean Myers of Tavares, FL passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the age of 90. She was born in Ford City, PA. Lila Jean taught elementary school in New Kensington, PA as well as in Key West, FL. Lila Jean had a love for music and was a choir director in Pennsylvania and in Key West. She also had a special place in her heart for children and started the preschool at the United Methodist Church in Lemont, PA. Lila Jean and her husband, Charles, moved to Eustis from Julian, Pennsylvania in 1979 and relocated to Tavares in 1981. Her desire to help others continued with her involvement with Anthony House, she assisted Spanish speaking families learn English and she loved to teach children to needlepoint. She also loved to sew. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Charles B. Myers in 1984, her sister, Helen D. Frederick, and sister-in-law Betty Rhines. Lila Jean is remembered and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Kathy L. Myers of Leesburg, FL, Karen L. Knepp of Lemont, PA, Sue Ann and her husband Daniel R. Luchs, Jr. of Tavares and Jeanne I. and her husband, Michael A. Wolford, of North Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Jennie Baughman of Ridgway, PA, nephew, William R. Ferguson and his wife, Vicki, as well as 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to gather for viewing on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 9:30am -10:00 am with a funeral ceremony starting at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Eustis, FL. Arrangements are entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Charles B. Myers and Lila Jean Myers to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778 or Surfside Community Church, 3453 Sunrise Blvd., Ft. Pierce, FL 34982.
