Leoncio "William" Ferrer's Obituary
Mr. Leoncio (William) Ferrer, son of the late Ramon Ferrer and Luisa Maldonado was born on July 18, 1928 in Utuado, Puerto Rico. Leoncio was united in marriage to Julia Laureano for over 64 years and they were blessed with five children; Luis (Beverly), Wilma (Jaime) Misla, Jose Raymond (Martha), Johnny (Justine) and Anthony Ferrer. Leoncio proudly represented his country in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Prior to moving to Tavares, FL, Leoncio lived in Middletown, NY and before that he lived in Garnerville, NY where he worked at the Elks Dye House for over 25 years.
Leoncio quietly departed this life on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his sisters Iris Deya and Daisy De Los Santos as well as one brother Marcelino Ferrer. His life will forever be cherished by the lives of his children, 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Leoncio is also survived by one sister Maria Ferrer, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
Leoncio enjoyed spending time with his family and was fondly known for his constant humor and jokes. He enjoyed music and playing along with his collection of guiros.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 11, 2017 at 1:00PM at Steverson Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home, located at; 226 East Burleigh Blvd. Tavares, FL 32778. Calling hours prior to service will be from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. Services have been entrusted to Steverson Hamlin and HIlbish Funerals and Cremations. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on the tribute wall.
