Rest In Peace Aunty Philipa
Aunty, my love; we shared so many similar experiences and I learned so much from you. Forever and always, Marissa.
I love you ❤️
Praying for the family during this difficult time and that God's love unfolds you and comforts you through the pain.
“Bound by the ties of friendship, from schooldays to the end”.
We bonded from our very first year at Bishops’… Form 1C. We had all come from various backgrounds, regions, and primary schools. Philippa eagerly immersed herself into her new friendships and touched our lives from the start.
Philippa was the bold, daring one in the group. She was thoughtful, always had a funny story and a dry sense of humor! Philippa had an air of sophistication, a graciousness, and truly loved people. In many ways she was mature beyond her age, displaying great leadership skills and often captivating us with thought-provoking conversations.
We were also blessed by her beautiful, melodious voice, a strong low-range alto/contralto which she used in the Bible club choir and other places.
Philippa’s boldness and leadership became more apparent after we became Christians in our teens. She had inspired some of us to accept Jesus and we looked up to her because of her strong knowledge of God and the bible. She taught us a lot and held on to her ever-growing faith in God. Although our lives took us through varying paths and to different places, we were always able to easily reconnect, not skipping a beat. We were always together in heart - a friendship that would span over 47 years!
Philippa had a genuine love for family and friends, and we got to know her parents and siblings quite well. They were a loving, very helpful family and we enjoyed spending time at the Thomas home. Because of her love for people, Philippa found her joy and fulfilment in caring for and helping others.
In my last conversation with her about a month ago, Philippa was obviously weakened by her battle, but was able to gather the strength to call me that day. We shared our fears, reminisced about our past, and laughed a lot! I was so impressed by her strength and I constantly assured her that it was ok to hang up and get some rest. Philippa insisted that we continue and so we chatted for over an hour and a half before finally saying our goodbyes. She asked about everyone in the group and assured me that the posse would soon hear from her… but God knew best.
Philippa fulfilled her calling with distinction, accomplished the task He placed her here for, then was called home. She is now with the King of Kings, putting on her crown and sheltered in the arms of God. No longer in pain!
We are so blessed that God shared the fragrance of her life with us. Sleep on and rest in peace dearest Philippa. Job well done! We shall meet again and rejoice our dear beautiful beloved friend!
Deepest condolences to the family including David Fogleson, Nelson and Margot, Neila, Willard and Grace,
