Larry Easton Stunkard's Obituary
Col.(R) Larry E Stunkard of Butler, TN passed away April 9th, 2026. Born in Marklesburg, PA on June 12th, 1939 to K. E. and Hazel F. Stunkard. He was a graduate of West High in Rockford, IL 1957 and graduate of Bradley Univ. Peroia, IL 1962. He enlisted in The US Army in 1962, was accepted in to Field Artillery Officers Candidate School in Fort Sill, OK, and graduated 1963. His Army career spanned 29+ years with two tours in Vietnam, honor graduate of Rangers School 1967, and two tours in Germany, recruiting command in Detroit, MI, and DCSIM for Space Command in Huntsville, AL. Col. Stunkard was a soldiers' soldier. After a distinguished military career he retired to a cattle farm in Tennessee for the next 30 years. He was well known for his bass fishing and hunting. He and his wife traveled extensively exploring the US and Canada.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lynn S. Stunkard, son Scott, daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Michael, grandson Caleb, his wife Courtney, great granddaughter, and his Sister Kay Krippendorf of WI.
A celebration of life will be planned later for family and friends.
