Kenneth Woodrow Alpaugh's Obituary
Kenneth Alpaugh (Kent), 76 of Tavares, FL and formerly of Manassas, VA and Baltimore, MD went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2023. He was born in Washington, DC on December 6, 1946 to the late Woodrow Alpaugh and Mary Louise Carter Alpaugh and grew up at Lake Jackson in Manassas, Virginia. Kent was a 1965 graduate of Osbourn High School.
Growing up on Lake Jackson, Kent developed a love of the water and boating. Stationed at Fort Eustis, VA, he proudly served in the Army’s “navy” on troop training transports on the James River during the Vietnam War. He was an avid boater and throughout his life spent his free time with family and friends boating on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. Kent never knew a stranger and will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his love of a good time and his devotion to family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Faris Alpaugh, daughter Alicia Edwards (David) of Pomona Park FL and brother, Charles Alpaugh of Romney, WV. He was the proud grandfather to three grandchildren, Michael Joseph McLaughlin (Camryn), Kenneth Patrick McLaughlin and Allison Haley Edwards (Trey) and three beautiful great-granddaughters, Carter, Delaney and Makalya. He was close to his extended family and will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 1:00PM at the First United Methodist Church of Tavares. A Celebration of Life will follow after the service at the Royal Harbor Social Hall in Tavares, FL. Donations of remembrance can be made to VITAS Health Care Hospice or the Lake County Florida Firefighters Charity.
