Karen Stover's Obituary
Edith Karen Stover, 61, of Howey-in-the-Hills, passed away on April 22, 2010 after an extended illness. Her loving husband, Lonnie, of 38 years was by her side. She was born in Hammond, Indiana on November 24, 1948. Among her many accomplishments in life, Karen was very active for more than 25 years in the Lake County Foster Parent Association and serving as the organizations President for more than 15 years. Karen was preceded in death by her son, Trent Dode Stover. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Stover of Howey-in-the-Hills; sons, John (Danelle) Spivak of Schererville, IN, Thomas (Angle) Spivak of Winnimac, IN; Christian Lee Stover of Tampa; daughter, Keri Stover of Howey-in-the-Hills; brothers, Bruce (Pilar) Spivak of Hobart, IN, James (Donna) Spivak of Schererville, IN; sister, Diane (George) Rust of Crown Point, IN; grandchildren, John Jr., Harley, Brett, Derrick, Thomas, Jr. and Stephany; nieces and nephews, Jessica (David), Rebecca (Jon), Jodi, Christina, Jill, and Sarah and more than 200 foster children that she has had in her home and she currently has in her home, Donnette, Chelsea, Aleetra, Candace, Kaitlyn, Brittany and Mirna. In life she touched the hearts and minds of thousands and she will be sorely missed. Friends called on the family on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel. A Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Steverson Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel with Dr. Alan Holden officiating services. Family suggests flowers or a donation to Lake and Sumter County Foster Parent Association, 7704 Park Hill Avenue, Leesburg, FL 34748.
