Karen Ann Green's Obituary
Karen Ann Green passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born on September 1, 1946, in Albany, New York, and moved to Florida with her family in 1952 at the age of six. She attended school in Howey‑in‑the‑Hills and Tavares, communities she held dear throughout her life.
Karen was a woman of strong faith. She was a devoted Catholic for many years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eustis, and in her later years, followed close friends and became a member of First United Methodist Church in Tavares.
Karen was best known for her vibrant spirit and love of games. She was a lifelong Bridge player, deeply enjoyed card games of all kinds, and was famously competitive when playing with family and friends. Later in life, she discovered a passion for Mah Jong, while continuing her love of traveling the world. Karen also cherished time spent hunting and deep‑sea fishing alongside her beloved husband, Bobby. Above all, she never missed an opportunity to support her children and grandchildren in their many activities. Karen was also an avid gardener, finding joy and peace in maintaining a lush and beautiful yard through every season.
In 1983, Karen and her husband, Bobby Ray Green, Sr., purchased Lake Door & Trim, Inc., a business they proudly operated for 40 years, serving Lake County and the surrounding areas. They later sold the business and retired after decades of dedication and hard work.
Karen was united in marriage to Bobby on March 19, 1982, at Mission Inn Resort in Howey‑in‑the‑Hills, where they began a life filled with love, adventure, and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis DeSales “Doc” O’Brien and Ruth Ursula O’Brien; her brother, Kirby O’Brien (Dottie); her loving husband, Bobby Green, Sr.; and her beloved daughter, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Leonard.
Karen is survived by her children, Sonny Ray Wright, Jr., Austin Keenan Green, and Mary Kristina (Kristi) Wright‑Mansfield; her stepchildren, Deanna Marie Donahue (Rick), Lynn Ann Green (Amanda), and Bobby Ray Green, Jr.; and her cherished grandchildren, Ryann Ashley Shreve (Wayne), Ann Frances Mansfield (Arturo), Kamden Ann Green, Hunter Green (Kristin), Billie Bennett (Scott), Chase Rimes, and Trevor Donahue, along with seven great‑grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by her extended family, including her nieces and nephews, Bil O’Brien (Susan), Becky O’Brien Crane, and Barry O’Brien.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Umatilla, with Pastor Brooks officiating. A Committal service will be held at Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Howey-in-the-Hills at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Lake Sumter Children’s Advocacy.
