Judith Caroline Basnett's Obituary
Judith Caroline Basnett, aged 79, died peacefully on July 13th, 2014 at her home in Tavares, FL. Judy was born February 4th, 1935 in Norwich, CT, the daughter of William Edward Rush and Maude Helen Smiley.
She was raised in Ware Shoals, South Carolina by her beloved stepmother Irene Rush and Grandmother Ellen Hughes. Judy enjoyed “Clothes, a boy, and a good time” while earning her registered nurse degree at the General Hospital School of Nursing, Greenville, SC. This could be the explanation for marrying Air Force pilot William W. Basnett, Sr. (Brig Gen, USAF Retired), from Lowell, OH. Shortly thereafter, Judy and Bill had five children, Helen Irene Bryant, Kimberly Ann Jones, Christina Marie McQuestion, William Warner Basnett, Jr., and Edward John Basnett. Judy held down the fort while Bill flew missions around the world.
Her children were her life and she was proud to be their mother. Her unwavering love and commitment are a beacon for Helen, Kim, Christina, Bill, John and her 15 grandchildren. They will never forget her perseverance, her truthfulness and her advice. Many have benefited from their conversations with, ”Mrs. B.”
“Always love and help one another, and give my wonderful grandchildren hugs, kisses and love.”—
Judith C. Basnett
A private family service will be held at Georgia Memorial Cemetery on August 1st. Donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
