Joyce S. Chamless' Obituary
Joyce S. Chamless, age 90, went to be with the Lord November 29, 2019. Born in LaGrange, Georgia, to Jack and Lina, she leaves behind a long legacy of loving family, life and God. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Chamless, and her firstborn son, George Bowen. She is survived by her four children, Alan, Mary Katherine, and Charlotte “Toby” Bowen, and Tonya Wade. Joyce leaves behind five generations, including eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Joyce’s love of family life didn’t just extend to her immediate family. She was “mother” to many she considered family such as Kathy Harton and Sallie Douglas. She also leaves behind a long list of close friends at East Lake Harris Estates in Astatula, where she resided for 47 years. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2019, at 1 pm at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish in Tavares, Florida with a reception to follow at East Lake Harris Estates Clubhouse, Astatula. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local animal shelter, such as the Humane Society of Lake County or SPCA-Florida, or Astatula Baptist Church—two organizations near and dear to Joyce’s heart.
