Joseph M. Jenkins' Obituary
Joseph M. Jenkins, age 78, of Tavares, Florida, formerly of Okeana, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2015 after a 9 year battle with cancer. He was born on June 22, 1936 in West Elkton, Ohio to Dallas and Bernadine Jenkins, both of whom have preceded him in death. He was married to Betty Feltner/Jenkins for 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty, his son, Joseph Rick Jenkins of Hamilton, Ohio; two daughters, Teresa Jenkins/Scott of Trenton, Ohio and Charlene Jenkins of Leesburg, Florida; one sister, Jeanne Jones of Hamilton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; Joe Jenkins, Jamie Jenkins, Tara Gessner, Jeremy Jenkins, Natalie Collins, Kathy Jenkins, Angie Jenkins, April Jenkins, David Scott, Shawn Scott, Matthew Scott, Brandy Leisring, and Candice Hill; 27 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dallas Bud Jenkins, and a sister, Angela Jenkins Philbeck.
He retired from his own excavating business but continued to help others in his community in Tavares, Florida. He was a member of the New Life Church of God in Tavares, Florida. He was the cornerstone of our family and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Funeral services are being handled by Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Road, Ross, Ohio. Visitation will be on June19, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. following burial will be in the New London Cemetery, Shandon, Ohio. A memorial service will be held for him on June 27, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at the New Life Church of God, 1212 North New Hampshire Ave., Tavares, FL 32778. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Church of God. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 E.
