Joseph C. "Bud" DuRant's Obituary
Joseph C. “Bud” DuRant of Astatula, Florida passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the age of 93 years. He was born in Savannah, Georgia and moved to Orlando at the age of 5 years. Bud proudly served his country in the US Navy in World War II from 1941-1947. After returning from the war, he went into law enforcement. Bud worked as a police officer for the Winter Park Police Department and as a deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for 30 years. He later operated his own detective agency for 20 years before retiring. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Elks Lodge. In his free time, Bud loved to go fishing. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 42 years, Darylene; daughter, Savilla Bishop and her husband, Ken of Weirsdale, Florida; sons, Edward DuRant and his wife, Patti of Kissimmee, Florida and Jay DuRant and his wife, Donna of Ocala, Florida; step-son, Charles Buck of Elk Grove, California; sisters, Sally Stout of Merritt Island, Florida and Jean Seaton of Orlando, Florida. A memorial ceremony will be held in the near future. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
