Joseph E. Babcock's Obituary
Joseph E. Babcock of Leesburg, Florida passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at
the age of 81 years. He was born in Elmira, New York. He and his late wife, Jane, moved to Florida in 1990 from Glens Falls, New York. Joseph worked as a clergyman for 40 years. He was Pastor emeritus of the Mount Dora Congregational Church and served there for 12 years before retiring. He was a member of Rotary. He also served as a substitute teacher. Besides preaching the Word, one of his passions was cooking and baking. He was known to make some of the best chocolate chip cookies. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane on March 6, 2015 after 55 years of marriage. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Elyse W. Babcock of Leesburg; son, Kristopher Babcock and his wife, Kathryn of Ardmore, Pennsylvania; his three grandchildren, Grace Harpole and her husband, Kyle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Justine Marie Babcock of Ardmore and Rachel Marie Bishop of Leesburg.
A memorial ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 5 at 7:00 pm at Congregational Church of Mount Dora. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared on the tribute wall.
