Barbara, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have fond memories of John as minister at Bloomingdale. My husband Diego and I were blessed to have John marry us almost 36 years ago. I have always remembered how much he cared about us and how he spent time with us to be sure we were ready for that important event.
Barbara, Rebecca and Laura,
I read about John’s passing in the Rockville newspaper. I have many fond memories of our days on Voorhees St. as neighbors. I will be keeping your family in my prayers.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
It was my privilege to be John's last partner at the Indiana State Board of Accounts. As Office Supervisors over Counties, he was a stickler for accuracy. John was a great communicator. Part of our responsibilities included lots of writing and he was the best at writing clear concise letters, manuals and bulletins. Another one of our responsibilities was training county officials. We could be asked to speak to auditors, treasurers, clerks, recorders, sheriffs, prosecuting attorneys and various other county officials. John's presentations were always thoroughly researched on the topics requested. His delivery was always brief but comprehensive intermingled with a few of his humorous stories. As you know John could really tell a good story! John was very well respected by the employees of our agency as well as the officials he served. As far as I'm concerned John was an instrumental part of helping to implement the policies and procedures used in county accounting today. John helped design and update all the hand posted records which formed the basis for the computer programs used today.
It was also my privilege to observe on a daily basis what a wonderful family man he was. He spoke so very highly of each of you. I can still hear is southern voice telling a story about you.
Just wanted you to know he made a difference in Indiana.

John was such a great man. I will never forget the time he comforted me when I was upset at work. He patted my hand and said as only he could “now Peggy, it will be alright. I’m so sorry for your loss.
John was the most kind, gentle and loving person. He always had a smile and a hug for you. He was a devoted husband to Barbara. Almost every Saturday He would power wash the benches at Tavares UMC. He will be missed by many people.
