John Herman Sohl Jr.'s Obituary
John Herman Sohl, Jr., 97 of Eustis, FL went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 8, 2024. John was born January 7, 1927, in Lakeland, Florida to the late John Herman and Annie Mae Sohl. John proudly served his country in the US Navy in World War II. He continued his service to our country in the Navy Reserves until 1954.
John married the love of his life, Audrey Alice Anderson. They moved to Eustis, FL in 1999. He was a member of Union Congregational Church of Tavares. He also attended The Masonic Lodge 85 in Eustis. John retired from Eastern Airlines as Chief Communications Operator after 42 years. John was a longtime Amateur radio operator – call sign W4KQS.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Audrey Alice Sohl on April 18, 2018. John is remembered and will be dearly missed by his sons, John H. Sohl, III (Gayle), and Mark H. Sohl, Sr. (Bonnie); daughters, Peggy Hutchison (Garret), and Dottie Ogaz (Jody); ten grandchildren, two step grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather for viewing on Saturday, August 17 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. A funeral ceremony will start at 1:00PM in the Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home chapel. Masonic Ritual will follow the funeral ceremony.
