My name is Willis Wallace. I was a 1st Class Petty Officer onboard USS Yellowstone AD-41 in Supply S-3 Division. John and I served onboard her in mid-90's. My memory of John was his dedication to each position that he took on. I briefly spoke to him over Facebook messenger several years ago and he made mention of his condition. Again, my thoughts, prayers and condolences goes out to his family.
We remember picking him up at his grandmothers to drive him to the airport in Montreal. We were stopped at the boarder and the car checked. Guess who had cigarettes in his luggage. Long story short they finally let us go.
We were stationed in Norfolk together and often went drinking on the weekends. One particular night it was late so we went to Taco bell and got a 20 pack of tacos. He got upset about something and threw the whole box of tacos on me and then got out of his black cougar. I proceeded to get mad myself and chased him threw the parking lot with his car! We laughed so hard about it we went pee in our pants. He said I can't believe you chased me with my own car! Love you Fat set rest in peace brother.
