Joan Woods Miles' Obituary
Joan Woods Miles, 91 of Leesburg, FL, passed away on January 5, 2025. She was born on May 18, 1933, in Crawfordsville, IN, to her parents: William and Lula Bessie (Palmore) Woods. Joan married immediately out of high school and was a devoted military wife and adoring mother throughout her life.
Along with her husband, she served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as an Ordinance Worker at the Orlando Temple from August 1996 to September 2015. She was also active within the Leesburg Ward as a Temple and Family History Consultant.
She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Richard M. Miles, children Melody (and Stephen) Miller, Steven (and Sara) Miles and son-in-law Rodney Smith, as well as twelve grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Terry Jo Smith, brother Max J. Woods and sister Betty K. Lovan.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 10:00AM-11:00AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Leesburg, FL, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 11:00AM. The family will have a private committal at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers (t2t.org), The Wounded Warriors Project or ASPCA.
