Joan Florence Hritzik's Obituary
Joan Florence Hritzik of Bonfire Mobile Home Park, Leesburg, Florida passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the age of 73 years. Joanie, as she was known to some, was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She moved to central Florida from Pennsylvania in 1972. Joan was a retired Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, specializing in women’s health. During her career, she worked at Florida Hospital Waterman in Tavares, Tavares Health Department, Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Community Health Center in Apopka and Groveland, and Dr. Dieguez & Oloufa OBGYN of Health Central in Ocoee. Joan also taught Lamaze class and La Leche League. She was Catholic. Joan practiced karate as a young woman and was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She was a Ford Mustang enthusiast and a member of the Mid-Florida Mustang Club of Orlando. She recently served as a volunteer for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and previously volunteered at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg. Joanie was preceded in death by her son, Henry “Billy” Novak in 2001 and her brother, Harry Wunner. She is remembered and will be missed by her former spouse, Michael Hritzik of Leesburg; son, Michael Hritzik III and his wife, Alysa of Leesburg; daughter, Denise Stokley of Emerald Isle, North Carolina; daughter, Michelle Bilbrey and her husband, Kevin of Leesburg; brother John Wunner of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; sister, Marlene Milford of Luzerne, Pennsylvania; as well as 8 grandchildren, Garrett Bilbrey, Gavin Hritzik, Avery Hritzik, Jeffrey Stokley, Sean Stokley, Joshua Novak, Stephanie Novak and Contessa Novak.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 17 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The Villages Hospice House, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162 (888)728-6234
