Janise "Jan" M. Barrowclough-Kerr's Obituary
Janise "Jan" M. Barrowclough-Kerr, age 77, of Tavares passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 after fighting a valiant 2 year battle with Emphysema. She fought for her independence and to stay on earth for her family and close friends as long as she could. She was born December 24, 1941 in Lynn, MA. Before she retired she was a customer service manager with Office Depot in Leesburg. She is survived by her daughter, Janise Porter of Ft. White, FL; and grandchildren, Austin Parrish of Indian Harbor Beach, FL and Shelby Niemeyer of Lake City, FL. and her best friend, whom she called her angel, Steven Ramirez of Tavares. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Donald Barrowclough. In lieu of flowers she asked that donations be made to Lyme disease research or Cornerstone Hospice House. On behalf of our family we would like to thank the doctor and staff at Cornerstone hospice--Blue team in Tavares. From the time she began her home hospice 2 years ago everyone who she had in her home were loving and caring every time they came to see her. Thank you to her case worker Bruce who was diligent in making sure she understood the paperwork and preplanning, her Dr. and his nurse that made house calls (Whom we were not fortunate to meet and do not know by name but they know who they are), her nurse Diane who always made her smile, and the sweet, loving and patient Colleen who assisted with her bathing and changing her bed. Mom loved how much love and caring all of these angels brought to her. A huge thank you to Cornerstone Hospice House where she spent her final weeks. Because of their love and care Jan passed with dignity, respect and surrounded by nurses who had grown to really care for her and whom she made laugh at every opportunity she had. Her daughter wanted to list each of the nurses who were involved in her care but decided not to as would not want to miss any of them so instead wants to say Jan loved each of you--she really enjoyed being silly and sometimes uncomfortably funny in her final days and appreciated how her nurses allowed her to be herself and went out of their way to provide any special snack request she had. They made each visit by her family and friends comfortable and gave all of them comfort in knowing they were taking extremely great care of her. So many angels have chosen Cornerstone to be a part of and we were truly blessed to have been touched by their caring love and support. They hugged and cried with us when we needed it most and we are eternally grateful.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Cornerstone Hospice; www.cshospice.org or to Lyme Warrior; www.lymewarrior.us/donate
