Janet Louise Stewart's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Janet Louise Stewart (Metzger) (86), while residing at Hearthstone Assisted Living & Memory Care, Leesburg, Florida. Janet went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2024, after a beautifully lived life. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her.
Janet was born on September 3, 1938, to Lloyd and Grace Metzger in Dayton, Ohio. Her parents, as well as her younger brother, Greg Metzger, California, preceded her in death. She graduated from Fairmont High School with a strong academic future. However, a certain gentleman attracted her attention, and she married Donald Witham in April 1957. Tragically, Donald preceded Janet in death in May 1972. God, in his infinite wisdom and mercy, then led Janet to meet and wed Daniel Stewart in July 1974. They shared 50 years of devotion to one another until Dan preceded her in death on September 15, 2024.
Janet’s interests included traveling, singing, reading, cooking and watching movies. She will be remembered for her positive, enthusiastic, and optimistic attitude toward life. She handled the struggles and challenges of life with grace and strength, never allowing her faith in the Lord to falter. These are the attributes her family will strive to carry forward as her legacy. While her absence leaves a void in our hearts, we know she now sings with the chorus of angels in heaven alongside her loved ones and heavenly Father.
Janet is survived by her three children: Curtis (Martha) Witham, New Mexico, Tina (Brian) Gray, Colorado, and Daniel (Ann) Stewart, Washington; her brother, Doug (Judi) Metzger, Ohio, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
