James Henry "Jim" Spiker's Obituary
James Henry “Jim” Spiker of Sorrento, Florida passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the age of 73 years. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Earl Otis and Carrie Spiker. Jim joined the US Navy and proudly served for six years including during the Cuban Missile Conflict. He and his wife, Patricia moved to Leesburg, Florida, living in several areas of central Florida until finally settling in Sorrento. Jim was a trucking dispatcher, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eustis, Florida, the Lake County Shrine Club in Tavares, Florida, the Bahia Shrine in Orlando, was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Mount Olivet Lodge # 3 in Parkersburg, West Virginia and the A&A Scottish Rite in Norfolk, Virginia. Jim also enjoyed working with computers. He is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Ann Spiker; sons, Michael James Spiker of Leesburg, Florida and James Henry Spiker, Jr. and his wife, Samantha of Leesburg; grandchildren, Michael James Spiker, Jr., Jerrica Kathryn Spiker, Matthew James Spiker and Alexander Joseph Spiker.
Family and friends are invited to gather for viewing on Sunday, November 17th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A funeral ceremony will be held on Monday at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow the funeral ceremony at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
