James Hammond's Obituary
James “Jim” Hammond passed away peacefully with his devoted wife, Pat and loved ones by his side on Friday, September 8, 2023, at his home in Leesburg, FL.
Jim was born in Washington DC on May 3, 1934 to the late James and Sarah Hammond. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Hammond, and sister, Audrey Jones.
In addition to his parents and siblings, Jim was pre-deceased by two sons, Dennis Klein and Kenneth Klein, and one grandchild Rebekah Whalen.
Jim leaves behind his wife Pat Hammond, his children and their spouses: Linda Macy (Pete), Mary Beth Lehnert (Rick), Vicki Whalen (Rollie), Kathy Chandler, Rick Klein (Donna) and his grandchildren: Jen Whalen, John Macey (Yuli), Justin Lehnert (Brittany Wills), Robyn O’Neil (Jared), Casey Chandler, Jacob Chandler, Kimberly Klein (Derek Gill), Jonathan Klein (Michelle Cichetti), and Elizabeth Klein. Jim is also survived by 9 precious great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jim will be remembered fondly for his kind heart and wonderful sense of humor. We would be pleased for friends and neighbors to join family for a celebration of Jim’s life at a graveside service held at Taylor Memorial Cemetery,101 N. Palm Avenue Howey-in-the-Hills, FL 34737 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 23rd.
