James L. Fraser's Obituary
Capt. James L. Fraser, Age 97, passed away on August 1, 2013, in Tavares, Florida. He was born 12 March 1916 in Harbor Beach, Michigan. He attended Michigan State University, served in the U.S. Coast Guard on the Great Lakes and Ocean ports on the U.S. northeast coast. He served on Great Lakes Steamers early in his career. He sailed during WWII as an officer in the Merchant Marine and was a ships' coastal pilot on the U.S. northeast coast and also with the Cape Cod Canal Pilots Association. He had his home in Bourne, Massachusetts [Cape Cod] for the last 53 years. He was an avid member of the Tide Club of Bourne, The Blue Lodge, The Shriners and the Merchant Marine Veterans Association. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Nonie. He is survived by his sons: Jan M. Fraser [Andrea] of Florida and Roy M. Fraser [Susan] of New Hampshire and 5 Grandchildren, 7 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to gather for viewing on Thursday, August 8 from 10:00-11:00 am with a funeral ceremony starting at 11:00 am, all in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mount Dora.
