James Warren Althaus' Obituary
James (Jim) Warren Althaus Sr., 82, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formerly of Wellington, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with his wife Karen, by his side and under hospice care.
Born July 21, 1942 in Oberlin, Ohio to Warren and Claudia Althaus. Jim was a dedicated husband to Karen (Buckley) for 65 years and father to four children, Jim Jr., Tim, Lynette, and Chris.
Jim was an engineer by trade, working for Elyria Foundry, then several companies in North Carolina before retiring to Florida and working at two different golf courses. He loved to 'tinker' and could fix anything. There was always a pencil and graph paper somewhere near so that he could 'sketch' up the next project.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Jim (Pam) of Wellington, Tim (Patty) of Holly Springs, North Carolina, and Chris of Port St. Lucie, Florida; daughter, Lynette (Dave) Pickworth of Wellington; brothers, Rod Sell (Carol Ann) of Kentucky, and Bill Sell of Idaho; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bill Althaus.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please consider donating to your local hospice facility.
