Howard C. Ingles' Obituary
Mr. Howard C. Ingles of Mount Dora, FL, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2012 at the age of 95 years. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to John A. and Nellie E. (Maple) Ingles. As a child he sang in his own band, Howard Ingles and the Thernoid Hawaiians, on several locally produced radio shows sponsored by the Thernoid Furnace Co., and won a blue ribbon for his singing at the Ohio State Fair at age 16. He proudly served his country in the US Army in World War II, stationed on and around Guadalcanal in the South Pacific as a coast watch radio operator. After his military service he returned to Ohio and went to work at Wright Patterson, working on airplanes. Following that, he worked for the Ohio State Highway Patrol as a radio operator. Howard moved to this area in 1952 from Columbus. He went to work for Minute Maid and managed the printing department for 15 years. He retired from Florida Institute of Technology as the print shop supervisor. Howard was the founder of the Minute Maid Stock Club and a member of the Lake County Coin Club. He will be missed by his son, John A. Ingles of Deland, FL; step-daughters, Wanda (Charles) Huffer of Fort Myers, FL and Louise Fontaine of Pascagoula, MS; grandchildren, Larry Bowman, Bradley Huffer and Carl Cooper. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Zona V. (Hook) Ingles. Friends gathered for visitation on Friday, February 10th, 2012, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm with a funeral ceremony starting at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed at Tavares Cemetery, Tavares, FL. Arrangements were entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish, Tavares, FL. Condolences may be left for the family by signing the guestbook below.
