Howard Alton Austin, age 75, of Grand Island passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. He was born November 9, 1937 in Auburn, NY and moved to Lake County 6 years ago from DeBary, FL. He worked in the air & heating industry, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He loved making things, photography, bird watching, and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Emily Austin of Grand Island, FL; mother, Luella LaPearl Jensen of Berrien Springs, MI; sons, David Alton Austin of Ooltewah, TN, Bruce Eliot Austin of Hendersonville, NC; daughters, Nancy Renee Coon of Vestaburg, MI, Karen Emily Austin of Maitland, FL; sisters, Alethea Cochran of Jamestown, ND, Lula Ellis of Perrysburg, OH; 9 grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, March 3 at the Umatilla Seventh Day Adventist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 3ABN, PO Box 220, West Frankfort, IL 62896. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, 226 E.
