Herman Houston "Ditto" Wayland Jr.'s Obituary
Herman Houston “Ditto” Wayland, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the age of 81. He lived in Leesburg, Florida with his Life Partner, Mary Helen Peebles, for the last 13 plus years. Houston was born September 28, 1939 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of the late Herman Houston Wayland, Sr., and Jeri Goodwill Wayland. He graduated from East High School in Knoxville, TN and proudly served in the Air Force 1957 thru 1960. Houston was an avid enthusiast of music and spent his life playing in bands, performing Karaoke, mixing, and recording music. When he was not involved in music; he really enjoyed playing his 9-hole golf course and riding around in his golf cart. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tavares, Florida, where he served with the Church Youth Ministry and did so with Grace. He connected with a vastly different generation while also greatly growing in “His” Faith.
He will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by his brother, Richard Eddie Wayland of Nashville, Tennessee, a sister, Marion Lee Wayland of Hawaii and a son, Kyle Richard Wayland of California. Houston was preceded in death by his late wife Karen Wayland. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at First United Methodist Church of Tavares at 10:00 AM.
