Herman Ortiz's Obituary
Herman Ortiz age 62 of Tavares Florida Passed away on June 13th 2026 at 12:47 pm at his home in Tavares surrounded by his wife and family. Herman was born in Manhattan New York but grew up in Toa Baja Puerto Rico till the age of 10. Years after marrying his wife Leatha in October 1985 he and his family moved to Lake County Florida In July 2000. There they attended Eustis Assembly of God now spirit life assembly. Herman worked 21 years as a floor tech for Leesburg regional hospital, now UF Health Leesburg.
Herman was a collector of many things including Radio control cars of various sizes, different kinds of caps/hats, big faced watches, and many sneakers of new or retro styles. But most of all he adored being around his grandchildren. He is preceded by his mother Henrietta Nakouzi, his father German Ortiz, his baby brother Alberto Ortiz, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A loving family man, Herman is survived by his wife Leatha of 42 years, and their two sons, Matthew and Brandon. Other family members include a daughter in law Frances, two grandchildren Lorenzo and Lilianna (Matthew’s family) and two other grandchildren Luna and Levi (Brandon’s family). He also leaves behind two sisters Amanda and Eloisa and several brothers, Daniel, Gilbert and Richard as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless family and friends.
Herman Ortiz’s funeral services will be held at Steverson, Hamlin and Hilbish in Tavares Florida on Friday June 26, 2026 at 6-8pm and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 27, 2026 at 3pm. Join the family in remembering Herman with his love of music, food, family and friends.
