Henry Walzak's Obituary
Henry Walzak of Tavares passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the age of 92 years. He was born in Quakertown, PA on May 22, 1921. Henry moved to Tavares in 1985 from Bedford, OH. He was a retired elevator metal finisher with W.S. Tyler Co. in Cleveland, OH for 37 years. Henry served his country in the Marine Reserves and was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific. Henry was Methodist. He volunteered for many years with the former Lake/Sumter Hospital, now known as Life Stream Behavioral Center. In the early years of their marriage, he and his wife, June loved to travel. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking, woodworking, and going to flea markets. He took pride in working outside to upkeep the yard of his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, June, his son, Wade and two sisters, Mary Filipczak and Bertha Olszyna. Henry is remembered and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Trudy Walzak of Tavares; grandson, Michael Walzak and his wife, Noelle, great grandson, Christian Walzak and great granddaughter, Grace Walzak, all of Port Orange, FL. Trudy would like to extend her sincerest and grateful appreciation for the loving and caring support provided to her dad by Rev. Dr. Tony C. Person, Mary Ann Adolphus, who called him her “Pops”, Peg and Anthony Coleman, Dan and Irene Huston, and Grace Bell; caregivers, Annie Justin and Connie Kiser; neighbors, Bill and Pat Carter, and Mike and Jean Robinson; Aunt Delores and Uncle Sid Via and all the staff of Cornerstone Hospice of Tavares. A Memorial Ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1012 East Line Street, Leesburg, FL 34748. Arrangements are entrusted to Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations, Tavares.
