Helen Claire Willaims' Obituary
WILLIAMS, HELEN “PUDDIE” CLAIRE, 92, of Orlando passed away Monday, December 7, 2020. Puddie was born October 24, 1928 and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where she went on to dance in the chorus line at The Muny. The “Muny” is the St. Louis Municipal Opera Theatre and it is the oldest and largest outdoor theatre in the nation. She was a beautiful ballerina and while performing at The Muny, she met her husband, Bill, who was singing musicals and light opera in the chorus. They were married for 53 years. In those years, she was a devoted wife and mother and she followed Bill, an electrician and projects manager, around the world on his various jobs. They had lived in Newfoundland, St. Louis, Merritt Island, Texas, Winter Garden, Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Phillips, Florida. They retired to Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida. Puddie volunteered with Give Kids the World as an airport greeter, welcoming families to Orlando and assisting them to their destinations. Her hobby was knitting. She knitted over 140 full length afghans that are now cuddling family and friends. She also knitted lap sized afghans that she donated to chemo centers to comfort patients. Her passion was her husband and her family. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Williams Carris and husband Neal Carris of Dr. Phillips and their sons – Jake & Nick Carris; her son, Michael Williams; and her son, Scott Williams of Kissimmee. Also, 6 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held for Puddie on Friday, December 18, 2020, 2:00PM at Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Howey-In-The-Hills.
