Harry Willis Nolf Jr.'s Obituary
Harry Willis Nolf, Jr., son of Harry Willis Nolf, Sr. and Helen Nolf, was born in Wilkes Barre, PA, on January 25, 1926. He graduated from Kingston High School (now known as Westside High School), Wilkes Barre, in 1944. He voluntarily joined the U.S. Navy and after graduating from Radio School, he copied coded messages during WWII aboard the US LST 646 in the Pacific Theater. After participating in the invasion of Iwo Jima, he returned to his home in Luzerne County, PA, and enrolled and graduated from Wyoming Seminary Business School. From there he entered King's College in Wilkes Barre, PA, from which he graduated in 1952. While at King's College, he met his first wife Lois Bertram and they were married in 1948. The couple lived in Forty Fort, Pa, after Harry graduated, and had two children, Dr. Randy Nolf (periodontist), and Dr. Donald Nolf (chiropractor).
Harry went to work for Maryland Casualty Insurance Co. for 2 years when he accepted a position with Ohio Casualty Insurance Co., and they moved to the Philadelphia area. He was an insurance claims Representative and worked the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area until he was transferred to the Scranton, PA Claims dept. office, where he was in charge of of six northeastern counties of PA. Harry was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge in PA for 32 years, and became a member of the Mid-Florida Lakes High Twelve International Masons in 2001. Harry was also an avid Penn State fan, and a proud member of the American Legion Post No. 314 in PA for 55 years.
In 1979, after the death of his first wife in 1978, Harry married Kathleen, and they were married for 39 years, residing in Lehighton, PA (1979-1990), and in Leesburg, FL, most recently in Scottish Highlands, where they were members of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Eustis.
Harry is survived by his wife Kathleen, his children Randy Nolf, of Saylorsburg, PA, Shawn Kimmel, of Columbia, SC, and Angela Kimmel, of Bartonsville, PA, and grandchildren: Julia, Amy, Greg, and Kevin Nolf; Kourtney Sacco, Brittany Bate, and Nathaniel Nixon; and a niece Joan Titus (Shavertown, PA), and nephew Bill Fielding (PA).
